3:48 p.m. After regaling one of my most difficult clients with an anecdote, of equal parts hilarity and pathos, I am reminded of an old adage my grandmother used to recite to me as she�d lay me down in my crib for my mid-afternoon nap. Nana would lean way over the crib rail, bringing her lips as close to my ear as she could possible reach and in a lovingly maternal tone, with breath warmed and sweetened with a 16 oz Pabst Blue Ribbon, she�d whisper, "Once a shitter, always a shitter."
